1-on-1 Instruction
In my experience if you’re not excited about what you’re painting, it usually won’t turn out well. This is why I work with you one-on-one to teach you the techniques necessary so you can paint what INSPIRES YOU. Whether it’s the first time you’ve held a pencil or paintbrush, or it’s been a lifelong interest, I can help you create more of what you want so you can feel that excitement that only comes from creating art. to what YOU want to learn.
Still have questions? I’ve got answers…
YEAH, BUT HOW MUCH?
I teach per session classes versus a time limited course, each session is $20. This allows me to tailor my teaching to your needs and give the highest quality of individualized instruction. It also allows you to tailor the classes to your needs and budget.Â
DO I HAVE TO BUY A LOT OF STUFF?
The short answer is NO!! If you’ve never done watercolor before, you certainly don’t want to invest a lot of money into something that you don’t know if you will like or stick with. So, I will be happy to provide the supplies you will need for the first class. After that, you will need to purchase just the basics to continue, i.e., watercolor paper, pencil and eraser, a few brushes, and a few tubes of paint. Supplies can be accumulated as time goes on, but the bare minimum can get you pretty far.
BUT I DON’T HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE.
That’s ok! I teach basic to intermediate watercolor, and students of ALL ages. If you’ve never tried watercolor before, I’m your guy…or, er gal! If you’ve dabbled a bit in watercolor, or have been producing some paintings but would perhaps like more instruction in portraiture, or learning new techniques, I can help.
CAN YOU TEACH REMOTELY?
At this time, I am not set up to teach online classes, but is something I would like to do in the future so stay tuned!
WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE YOU?
Two words: CUSTOMIZED INSTRUCTION. Typically one on one classes have a certain curriculum that the student must follow. Although there are a number of techniques that you need to learn, a lot of what happens in my class is controlled by YOU and what inspires YOU. For example, I helped a student who first wanted help with her drawing. When it came time to paint it, she didn’t really want to paint what she had drawn, so I had her choose another picture that she could draw quickly and get right to the painting. It’s important for me to be flexible in this way, because it’s been my experience that if you’re not excited about what you are painting, it usually won’t turn out well. We work together to find what inspires you and I can give you the techniques to bring it to life.Â
I could not have felt confident without her help.
I recently was in need of help and advice and she was very willing. Her knowledge and expertise were so evident and her skill in teaching technique was very special. I went on to win an Award of Distinction for this project and could not have felt confident without her help. Thank you again.
