About the Artist
My art has evolved from a time filling exercise as I raised two small children during long, snowy winters in Wyoming to a passion of expression coupled with an exploration of watercolor technique and study of human nature.
While a resident of Sedona, Arizona after retirement from being a social worker/counselor, I was encouraged to study and take workshops in watercolor and drawing from unique and talented teachers. I like creating portraits of both people and animals that ‘speak to me’ during the intimate, creative painting process. Many of my subjects are not posed in a formal setting but observed in daily life activities. Animal portraits are always surprising since many are done from still photos and then gain life as the intimate heart of the subject is revealed.

My art is ever-evolving and frankly, it’s a joy to see where I am now compared to where I was when I started, and I’m excited to see where I’ll be tomorrow. Hopefully, soon I’ll be able to offer some of my own online tutorials so be sure to stay tuned for updates so you can join me on my journey of artistic creation.

A whole new set of techniques with non-traditional colors and paper helped me to bring movement and brighter color to my work. In this class I created ‘Wake Up!’ and ‘Macaws’ as seen in the gallery on the left.
